Grupotel Mar de Menorca

Lovely hotel. We were happy with our room which was modern and well equipped. Room was cleaned daily and towels replaced. We spent each day around the pool which was a lovely temperature. There was always sun beds available but they were a bit short on parasols which would have been an issue in the busy season. At the time we left it was getting more busy as schools would be out soon. I personally wouldn’t go during the school holidays as I need to have shade during the day and the pool itself was starting to get a bit crowded. The food was good. The dining room pleasant. There were quite a few days I couldn’t get pancakes because of the amount of people there and they were getting snapped up. Also getting coffee was an issue and they definitely need more coffee machines. Sometimes the coffee machine needed filling or was being filled during service, leaving long queues at the other two machines. It was easy to get served at the bars, the bar staff were friendly and efficient and queues didn’t get very long. The drinks were great. Lovely pina coladas and other cocktails. It was the World Cup while we were there so we watched a game most nights in the entertainment area. The hotel is quite remote which we didn’t mind. We were only there for a week, wanted to “fly annd flop” but if we’d had the inclination, could have hired a car there easily. There is a bus service right outside also. The local beach is tiny. We packed our stuff up for a day at the beach and walked down there, looked and walked straight back up to the hotel. It wasn’t the type of beach to spend a day at. We could see other guests doing the same. All in all great. The pool is warm and you rarely get that. The hotel very close to the airport, making the most of your first day there ! We would go again as all round it was good value, a restful break and mostly had everything else needed.

We travelled with our daughter, son in law and nearly 2 year old granddaughter. First appearances we a little doubtfull as to quality of place, but we were very hot, arriving here at 11.30am and told room not ready until 1500hrs.( this is normal throughout hotel industry) Got changed in foyer into swimwear and headed to pool (35C that day). Everything then changed after a long swim and a few beers. The room was excellent, ground floor opposite adult? pool (No.3001) amazing location for someone like me with dodgy knees! Room was probably equipped for self catering for 4, so being only the two of us, loads of seating on corner sofa/bed , large fridge very cold. 2 zone A/C which worked so well in temperatures in mid 30s all week. No criticism over food, all really well cooked and great quality and variety, fish and seafood lovely. Our babe had an amazing time in swimming pool. It was so warm she could stay in all day if needed, clean water and lots of water features for little ones. Always loads of free sunbeds around pool, ok there are still weirdos who get up at silly o clock to book beds with towels, but this was totally unnecessary , we always found some with parasols. Only the one bar, serves pool as well through window, but service fast and always with a smile. A short walk out of hotel, down steepish road (500M) is the little cove of Es Canutells , so quiet and relaxing, amazing place to swim, walk back not too bad, just a bit warm the week we went. If I had to make any constructive criticism, restaurant acoustics very loud when busy. Pehaps some tablecloths would help along with fabric wall art. Tablecloths and laid tables would also enhance dining experience (it's a 4 star after all). All inclusive drinks were a disappointment, beer fine, in fact lovely, but spirits were from some questionable sources. (OK we all know they're not going to be premium brands, but there are better brands to be had). Draught wine was diabolical! No chance to pay for a decent red, althouth the supermarket attached to the hotel had some drinkable stuff. In conclusion, a very clean, likeable place if you are taking kids away, if we treat the family again this place would be seriously considered.

Fantastic great for families and couples

I couldn't fault our trip. Hotel staff - great, Room - hit the spot Food - really good variety Drinks - on tap. Location - in the middle of nowhere BUT you would have know that if you've done your research. If you opt for self-catering & don't have a car I would expect that you would really struggle. They do have an on-site supermarket, but there is only one restaurant within walking distance of the hotel.

A lovely hotel let down by a completely ineffective TUI representative Grupotel Mar de Menorca is in a fantastic location and, overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel staff were excellent throughout: friendly, hardworking, helpful and a real credit to the property. The accommodation and setting made for a genuinely good holiday experience. It is important to separate the hotel from the TUI service. Our problem was not with Grupotel staff. It concerned the TUI representative and the lack of useful return-flight information on the TUI board. When our return journey became a serious problem, the TUI representative was unable to provide practical help or a clear way forward. Given that we were stranded and trying to get four adults home, this was deeply disappointing. We were left to deal with confusing instructions, urgent payments and a replacement journey to Manchester rather than Birmingham. I would happily recommend Grupotel Mar de Menorca for its location and its excellent hotel team. However, TUI needs to seriously review the support provided by its representatives at the hotel, because in our experience it was simply not there when it mattered.
