Gran Hotel Almenar

Very nice and friendly reception staff. The rooms are exceptionally clean with toothbrush and tooth paste available . What was very disappointing is the restaurant was closed Thur to Mon and no bar service either. If you wanted food then there is a vending machine with limited options at the Hotel or a good 30 mins walk to a supermarket and back. If the restaurant had been open for dinner during our stay and the bar too then I would have given 4 stars.

Stayed here recently as part of a tour group, there were a few positives but unfortunately also lots of negatives. Starting with the positives, my room was very nice and spacious, it was more like a suite and came with some nice amenities, air conditioning was effective and the noise wasn’t intrusive so you could leave it on a low setting overnight. The Breakfast was also good quality with plenty of choice and all the staff I engaged with were pleasant, Unfortunately that’s where the good points end. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere in the side of a motorway. I felt a little uneasy about my personal safety walking around the area , particularly crossing the footbridge to the nearest restaurants and shops which are located on the other side of the road. There was no restaurant in the hotel so I had no other option. You could also constantly hear the motorway noise from your room. Not to mention getting from the airport was a real nightmare requiring three connections. This place is cheap for a reason, suggest you stay elsewhere

For the location and the dated, basic room an no refreshment other than a vending machine, 120 euros for a three bed room seems high. Parking is ok, Secure and Underground. For being what it looks like a business center, the wifi was very bad."bathrooms are ok with very good hot water.

The room when we checked in was very clean and tidy. However when we asked for extra pillows, they gave us torn pillows without any covers.. and we used them without covers for the rest of the stay- housekeeping did not bother to put covers on the pillow even though they were torn. The tissue box did not get refilled and there was just one tissue box in the room.

This place are not 4 star. 2-3 the moust. service are noon. Rooms are small. Resturant are not open, the bar is not open! When you ask fore something, then its not there business, and The Hotel, are in middle of nothing. Only good thing to say, the breakfeast are ok. If you are not in your own car, then stay away! Nothing around......
