We really enjoying our stay here. The room cleaning service is excellent. Thank you to Sadeepa, Dinesh,Mayura and Haresha:) They always put an extra thought and surprise us with a new towel arrangement! Thank you ! The food in the restaurant is very delicious!

We are here now. The hotel is beautiful. Staff so helpful. Our maid Sadeepa Mayura who left beautiful displays on the bed each day after cleaning our room, one was a birthday cake made out of towels for my husband’s 50th birthday. The staff also brought a birthday cake in the restaurant and sang to him making his birthday extra special. Food was amazing, I would highly recommend coming here! Weather perfect and loads of excursions can be booked with the drivers at the front of the hotel.

This was my first trip to Sri Lanka, and I would highly recommend it to anyone! I went with a friend to celebrate her birthday, and we managed to tick off so many things from her bucket list. We booked excursions with a local tour guide we found on the beach in front of our hotel (Riu), and we were lucky to have Eshan as our guide. He was absolutely fantastic—he took us to every place we wanted to see, and not once did we feel rushed. Eshan is also an excellent driver. I usually can't sleep in a car unless I know the driver well, but with him, I actually dozed off a couple of times and never felt unsafe. The Sri Lankan people are incredibly kind and welcoming. Our hotel was wonderful—the food was delicious, with so much variety. A big thank you to all the staff, who were extremely friendly, attentive, and kind—from the reception team to the waiters, bar staff, swimming pool attendants, and cleaners. A full 5 stars to all of them! Special shoutout to Charli "Tours', one of the local guides on the beach—if it weren’t for him, we would’ve booked our tours through TUI and missed out on the authentic Sri Lankan experience. I will definitely be coming back! One small bit of constructive feedback: the entertainment team could use a little improvement. I understand it’s difficult when the hotel isn’t very full, but adding some pool aerobics or Zumba classes could really help liven things up. That said, they did try! Let me know if you want a shorter version or one tailored for a specific platform like TripAdvisor or Google Reviews!

This was my second time staying at Riu Ahungalla, and I returned with my family from May 11 to May 12, 2025, during Vesak Poya. The location is excellent, with direct access to a beautiful beach one of the reasons I chose to come back. It was quite busy during check-in and check-out due to the holiday crowd, which caused some delays. However, the staff remained courteous and tried their best to handle the rush, even though they were clearly under pressure. Despite the initial chaos, our stay was enjoyable overall. The hotel maintains its clean and relaxing environment, and the beach view is as stunning as ever. I recommend avoiding peak holidays for a more peaceful experience, but even then, it’s a great spot for families. Looking forward to visiting again!

Overall experience was good but lack of lifts to room as much distance to cover up restaurant and front desk.
