Hyatt Regency Phuket Resort

Hyatt Resort Phuket did not disappoint! What a great place, staff were exceptional, the rooms were spacious and extremely well kept and cleaned daily. The food options were varied and delicious. Breakfast was fantastic, and the restaurants onsite were excellent. We had a great time and would highly recommend this place.

Needs shuttle bus for airport. Staff needs to communicate better on what they are charging to your credit card. They told me $200 deposit. Charged my card $269. Charged $47 for a hamburger I couldn't return after I specifically requested what I wanted on it. Due to lactose intolerance. The receptionist blamed poor communication on both ends. Yet I couldn't return food that's already cooked per policy.

My mum and I embarked on the Kamala Tuk Tuk Adventure, which is an activity provided by the Hyatt Phuket at an additional cost. We boarded the tuk tuk from the hotel and met our guide, Marat. Marat was extremely knowledgeable and we enjoyed learning from him throughout the 2-hour tuk tuk adventure. He gave us an electric fan to help us stay cool on the tuk tuk and water. We learnt about the surrounding Kamala community and saw their school and the local houses, which was a really valuable experience and something we wouldn’t have been able to see if not on this tour. Our first stop was the Laem Sing Beach Viewpoint, which was beautiful and again, something we wouldn’t have seen without being on this tour because we did not know it existed. It was a perfect, postcard-like view which we are so happy to have seen in person. Next we went on to Phuket Fanta sea and carnival Magic. This was interesting to see and learn the history of such as other countries cultural influences on Thailand and the prior use of elephants. We ventured on to Bang Wan Waterfall and went on a small hike to see the waterfall up close. We learnt about how the local Thai people enjoy this area such as the Durian plantation at the top of the hill and were given a cool towel after this stop to cool down. Our last stop was a cafe with a beautiful lookout over Kamala. We enjoyed yummy drinks here, I had a tasty ice coconut matcha and mum had the ice coconut Thai tea. Overall, this was a very well curated experience and mum and I can both say we enjoyed the journey and seeing spots we wouldn’t have known about and continuously learning from Marat along the way.

Our experience exceeded our expectations. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. My daughter is coeliac and Chef Untung and the staff and the Regency Club were extremely helpful and accommodating to her needs. Our reservation included the use of the club and we were able to enjoy the food at the club together. They made special gluten free meals for her. At breakfast, there was a small selection of gluten free food but we were able to request different ones such as pancakes for her. The marine biology centre was another attraction and reason for us to book at this hotel. Marat, the resident marine biologist, was super helpful teaching them to snorkel properly and took them out to the sea to explore. They also enjoyed the jelly fish feeding time that occurred daily at the centre. The room was fantastic, very clean and modern. It was very close to the club which was handy as we could go there for refreshments during the day. The sea is not very suitable for leisure swimming as it’s very rocky but great for snorkelling. When it was low tide it was great to explore the sea creatures in the rock pools. I’d recommend bringing water shoes as the path can be slippery. The hotel is in a quiet area of Kamala which is what we were looking for. It is within walking distance to Kamala beach or there’s a hotel shuttle or not too expensive by taxi. The swimming pool is big and clean. Overall it was a very enjoyable stay at the Hyatt.

I definitely thought my experience would be better. To start, I was not able to sleep the first night due to the 90% humidity in the room. Fortunately the room was changed and upgraded later which turned this into a 3-star and not a 1-star, but aside from that we just kept on finding small things that weren't working like AC controls, TV, the lever to change from the shower to the other faucet, ironing table did not open, etc. Aside from that, the hotel does not have beach direct access so that also is another reason why I wish I would have stayed somewhere else
