After years of being Ikos visitors we decided to give the Crown a go. The positives: 1. Our room. Our Amber Lagoon suite was stunning. Modern, spacious, comfy beds, lovely toiletries, extensive minibar. 2. The waterpark. So much to do there and something to keep all ages happy. Clean and modern. 3. The kids club. This is the best club I have seen at any hotel. Lots of different themed rooms for children to get involved with. Inside and outside space. Little train rides included. There were daily activities such as soap making too. 4. The selection of restaurants. As people who don’t really like a buffet, it was great that across the two hotels there were so many restaurants to choose from. 5. Room assist Whataspp. As part of the Lagoon suites we were able to WhatsApp guest relations. They were extremely responsive and answered a whole range of questions for us. 6. Most of the staff were so friendly and warm with my 3 year old daughter. They really wanted to look after her. 7. Cleanliness. The whole building is stunning and across the site all main areas and toilets were spotless. 8. The gym. The gym was one of the best we have seen and in a great location. 9. The bakery. The bakery was outstanding and such a treat. Not sure my waistline is thanking me. At the moment there are still so many areas for improvement. 1. Service. Although most staff were super friendly there were still some bordering on rude. We got completely of ignored for 10 minutes at Palm beach restaurant. When checking in, the Receptionist was talking to 3 other people and checking her phone whilst demanding our deposit. At Alia beach club completely the wrong breakfast order came out. There were a number of mistakes made throughout our stay. 2. À la cartes booking. When we first arrived we were told there were no à la cartes available for the first two nights. When you have paid Crown prices then I think this is poor. We did complain and then we got all the reservations we wanted but we shouldn’t have had to do that. Most restaurants were really quiet and so this is definitely a system that needs improving. 3. À la carte breakfast. It is great that there are multiple options to go to for breakfast rather than the buffet, but they do all serve basically the same menu. It would be good for them all to offer their own spin on breakfast. 4. Children’s menu. The children’s menu is really limited and is the same at every restaurant for lunch and dinner. This would mean by daughter would have some version of sausage, chicken nugget or fish finger for every meal for 7 days. At other luxury hotels we have been to each restaurant offers ‘child friendly’ versions of the main menu. This is definitely something that needs looking into. 5. The farm. We were really excited that there were going to be animals for my daughter to see. However, I was really concerned for the welfare of the animals. Also when letting the animals out at 11am staff need to make sure they are in front of the animals. It was terrifying to watch a child nearly get taken out by a cow running towards them. 6. Sun beds. The site is so extensive that you will be able to find a sun bed at any time of day. However at times during our stay the main pools were crazy busy and we had a few days where people were going out at 7am to reserve beds. Again, not something you would expect at a 5* resort. 7. The buffet. The appearance of the buffet seemed rather like a school canteen. The food was so similar each day and there was such a focus on meat, a lot of which didn’t look that appetising. 8. Buggy service at dinner time. It was great to be able to use the buggy service to save my daughter having to walk in the heat. However, at dinner time we often had to wait a long time for a buggy and we often then had to get off and switch buggys because of buggys going to different places. On three occasions we were late for our dinner reservations. I realise some of the negatives may seem quite small but as we are lucky to have stayed in other luxury hotels, these were the little touches that took away from that luxury 5* feel. Definitely felt like that final shine and polish is not there yet and is making us hesitate when thinking about whether we would return or not.

The hotel and facilities are brilliant The food amazing The kids club amazing. Especially the bambo junior which is located in the crown lobby area which my daughter absolutely loved as it was a lot smaller than the big one and the staff were amazing Just the Ala cart system for crown guests needs a little work it was very hard work getting reservations and at the price your paying it shouldn’t be so difficult But overall a lovely holiday and lovely hotel Tips- Have the steak tartar at Rivera The sushi at alia at lunch time And the cheese cake and chocolate sauce and steak sandwich from the patisserie by the food stalls
