Matemwe Attitude

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in Zanzibar, and everything was perfect! The staff were amazing, the food was delicious with plenty of options, and the outdoor activities were so much fun. The hotel is right in front of the Indian Ocean, with stunning views. They also arranged a beautiful beach dinner for our honeymoon, making our stay even more special. A special thank you to Dai & Lilian! Highly recommended!

We stayed here for 10 nights in September, about 90 min private transfer from the airport, new roads getting built so some were a bit sketchy but got there ok, track to the hotel is pretty bumpy as well. The hotel is through some gates at the bottom. We checked in no problem and had a drink and some food at the bar area. We were then shown to our swim up room ( block of 4 detached with a lovely pool that runs along all 4 rooms) The villa was beautiful outside and in, big comfy bed, clean, very traditional decoration, wood and cream decor. Outside shower was nice and the one inside was good as well, plenty hot water. Lovely outside area with a couple of comfy loungers and a great seated area which is shaded. The room was about 3-5 minute walk from the reception area, loungers fill up fast at the pool at the top, wonderful view. The food was great as well, plenty choice for breakfast, egg station, and all the usual food. Dinner was buffet, food at the bar area or at the Fukwe restaurant. The food and drinks were good throughout, The staff ate all so friendly and will look after you, I can’t recall all the names of them but they definitely made the stay a lot more enjoyable as well, always happy and smiling. The hotel is a bit out the way but that’s what we liked , need taxis everywhere. This was a chilled, relaxed holiday which is what we wanted, I’d 100% recommend this hotel.

Our stay at Matemwe Attitude was nothing short of exceptional, but what made it truly special was not just the beautiful resort, outstanding food or incredible facilities. It was the people, the kindness they showed us, and the way they made us feel like family at a time when we really needed it. Our holiday got off to a terrible start. After a difficult flight experience, including losing our luggage, we arrived at the resort extremely late, following more than 20 hours of travelling. We were feeling deflated, anxious and saddened, arriving in our warm travelling clothes with none of the belongings we had packed and looked forward to having for our holiday. However, from the moment we arrived, the warmth of the team began to turn things around. We were greeted so warmly by one of the night managers, and as we walked through the resort towards our villa, our expectations were completely exceeded. The beauty of the villa, the thoughtful little touches and the genuine warmth of the staff made us momentarily forget the troubles of the day. What could have been a miserable start to our holiday became a moment we will always remember. Unfortunately, the challenges with our luggage continued into our stay, and this is where Matemwe Attitude truly showed us what exceptional hospitality looks like. We must give a very special mention to Masemo, one of the front desk managers, who went above and beyond to help us retrieve our luggage. Masemo understood the impact the situation was having on us, made us feel heard and prioritised, and continued to support us with patience, compassion and determination. Despite working incredibly long days of 16 hours or more, Masemo continued to communicate with external parties, chase updates and do everything possible to help us get our belongings back. It is difficult to put into words just how much this meant to us. What may have appeared to others as a luggage issue was, for us, something that had taken away a huge part of the excitement and comfort of our long-awaited holiday. Masemo recognised that, never made us feel like an inconvenience, and consistently showed us that our concerns mattered. That level of care goes far beyond what anyone could reasonably expect, and we will always be grateful. The wider reception team also deserve enormous credit. Every interaction was met with patience, kindness and understanding, even when we were understandably feeling frustrated and upset. We never felt that we were asking too much or that our circumstances were a nuisance. Instead, we felt supported by people who genuinely wanted to help. And this wasn’t limited to those who helped us with our luggage. Throughout our entire stay, every single member of staff we encountered was faultless. There was a consistent warmth, friendliness and willingness to help that made the resort feel less like a hotel and more like being welcomed into a family. Beyond the people, Matemwe Attitude itself is beautiful. Our villa exceeded expectations, the resort was exceptionally clean, the pools and facilities were wonderful, and the peaceful atmosphere made it easy to relax and unwind. The food and drinks were outstanding, and the entertainment and activities offered a lovely balance between enjoying ourselves and simply slowing down and soaking up our surroundings. But ultimately, it is the people who will stay with us long after the holiday itself. The team at Matemwe Attitude should be incredibly proud of what they have built, but even more proud of the people they have working there. It is clear that so much care goes into creating the experience guests enjoy, and that care is reflected in the staff who work so tirelessly, often through incredibly long days, while continuing to greet guests with a smile, kindness and genuine warmth. Masemo, the night manager who welcomed us, the wider reception team and every member of staff who made our stay special: thank you. You helped turn what began as an incredibly difficult and upsetting experience into a holiday filled with beautiful memories. Your kindness made a real difference to us, and we hope the resort recognises just how valuable you all are. We would wholeheartedly recommend Matemwe Attitude to anyone looking for a luxury all-inclusive holiday in Zanzibar. If you’re looking for beautiful surroundings, outstanding food, a peaceful atmosphere and, above all, a team that genuinely cares about its guests, look no further. Just the very best of everything! Possibly our best holiday ever Having been to the groups hotels in Mauritius we had high expectations that were surpassed and exceeded with our trip we have just returned from. The ‘resort’ layout and design is fantastic and the design team have done a fantastic job with incredible attention to detail that never failed to impress with pleasant surprises on each and every day passing and noticing a new feature. Of course there are always things Gaby could enhance or that you might want or suggest but this minor point aside it’s just so good and well thought out planned and appointed! The team then create the atmosphere and vibe and just made our stay. Beautiful people that have the guest at their very core with care and passion brimming. Is this training or is it the way they are., I think the latter to be honest but having the attitude experience in Mauritius the groups’ vibe seems to be evident also.. combine these 2 aspects the guest experience was second to none and the each and every team member went over and beyond (much more!) to make our holiday The team members at the forefront aside it would be unfair to not also mention those that aren’t in the immediate field of Vision like the kitchen staff or gardeners who worked tirelessly behind the scenes or in the background but were still very pleasnt and happy smiling and engaging. I made a special effort to chat even if a ‘jambo jambo’ or more when possible! And the team members all of whom are fantastic but a special mention to Rahma, Victoria, Nejma, Lilian, Penda, Asabi, Haji, Dai, Justina, Sylvia … and these just the immediate names I can remember You all were all so lovely and so so good to get to know whilst you worked so so hard Asanti Sana!! We were attitude fans (this is why we went to Matemwe!) but are now completely so!

Amazing property! We stayed in a beachfront villa was stunning! 2 floors outside pool! 2 balconies very private. Walked down steps onto beach. Fukwe restaurant steps away great food on the beach! Special shout out to Rahma the legend that never stops smiling! Said also a person who constantly tries to ensure you have everything you need! We arrived late at Night after a very delayed flight and got an amazing fillet of beef,worthy of many fine restaurants for room service courtesy of Muslih! Thank you Sir we did try but couldn’t find you to thank you in person. The service at this hotel was exceptional staff couldn’t do enough to please. Had amazing spa massages from Angel and Agape Thank you! Hassan always on hand to ensure everything was perfect! Couldn’t ask for nicer people to make our holiday perfect! Thank you!
