Secrets Playa Esmeralda Resort & SPA

We spent a week here late September and it was pure relaxation. We stayed in a preferred club ocean view king suite and it was beautiful. The view from our balcony was stunning and never got old. We were greeted with a cool towel and were taken to the preferred club check in where we met our Butler Carlos. He took us on a tour of the resort and pointed out all the important things-especially the doctor which we did end up needing. It was good to know where it was and how it worked when we needed it. He brought our bags to our room and got us all settled in. Before he left us he shared his what’s app with us so that we had access to him whenever we needed something. Every morning he sent a message with the days schedule and to checked in to see if we needed anything. He came and found us at the pool or in our room to make sure our stay was going well and to see what he could do to make our stay better. One random request I had was if we could get a fan to help drown out the noise at night. I am a very light sleeper and the night can get a bit loud with the activities, music and guests coming and going. Once we asked for it he got it to our room within an hour. I greatly appreciated him going the extra mile each and every day! He always had a smile on his face and was just a joyful presence. If you are getting a butler Carlos is the one to ask for! Since we went during an off season we didn’t experience any trouble finding chairs or pool space. Most days we only had a few other people in the pool with us. Nelson and Brenda from the entertainment staff were super friendly and remembered our names and greeted us every day. You can tell they truly love their jobs and are excellent at what they do. They are every one’s hype person. Brenda could be heard from across the resort with her contagious laughter and Nelson was seen playing cards with other guests every morning and smiling ear to ear. We loved their energy and enthusiasm! Shout out to our favorite bartenders who kept our drinks full all day. Mildred and Erika! They had great drink recommendations and were walking around all day making sure every one was taken care of! We appreciate your attention to detail and your kindness did not go unnoticed. The service at the all the restaurants was wonderful. We ate early so we were sometimes one of the only couples eating. We had Jose multiple times at different restaurants and he remember our drink orders and treated us wonderful! He was always right there to clear a plate or refill a drink which was much appreciated. Lastly, the grounds of the resort are well taken care of and are beautiful. The pools were clean, landscaping was perfect, views were stunning. Just a little note: If you go down to the beach at dusk or dawn-you need bug spray. We went to watch sunrise and got quite eaten up! The ride from the airport is not that bad. The drive is pretty and goes by fast. Like others mentioned, have your transportation set up before hand. The airport was quite crazy with people trying to get you to use their service. Google Translate was helpful here as well if you do not speak Spanish. There is a lot going on so you need to be sure you know exactly what resort they are going to and what you are agreeing to. Even with our transport set up it was still a bit hectic finding where we needed to go. Other than that, plan on lots of sunscreen and plenty of relaxation. We had a wonderful week and were sad to leave! Thank you for a memorable week!

My recent stay at this resort was my second time as I was on a birthday/girls trip. Everything was wonderful during my stay. We started with Eudamar as our Personal Bulter and he did great getting us situated in our room then he handed us off to Penel who was our Personal Bulter as the remainder of our stay. Penel was there to assist in dinner reservations, making sure drink and snacks were filled. He also had a very quick response for whatever concerns or problems we had. Penel also decorated my room for my birthday which was very unexpected and much appreciated. Other shoutouts were to the Entertainment Team who helped make my birthday very special and I enjoyed the games, classes and activities with Nelson, Chocolate, Monkey, Franklin, Brenda, La Liberta and Pumba. At Sugar Reef we had the best service from Mildred, Negro, and Erika they we’re always there with a smile on there face ready to help you have a great day! At Bar Mantee Luis and Maximus always was ready to keep the party moving! The bartenders at Time out and the Piano Bar were great at knowing what drinks we were going to have for the evening. This resort knocks it out of the park with the beautiful beaches and outstanding staff! I’m ready to return a third time!

My wife & I came here for our honeymoon and I can say our expectations were greatly exceeded. We absolutely loved our stay from start to finish! The resort itself was beautiful, but what truly made the experience exceptional was the level of service. Having our own personal butler, Peñel, was incredible. He was outstanding, attentive, thoughtful, and always one step ahead. It genuinely felt like we didn’t have to lift a finger the entire time! The food was amazing, and staying in the Secrets section was such a special experience. Having private access to our own restaurant, pool, and other amenities made the stay feel even more exclusive and relaxing. Every staff member we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. The entertainment team also did a fantastic job keeping things fun, with lots of great activities throughout our stay. If I had to pick one thing to improve, I’d say perhaps some softer towels, and honestly, that’s me being picky! From start to finish, we loved every part of our stay and would absolutely come back. It was an unforgettable experience, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit!

My husband and I had a great time spending our 10 year wedding anniversary here!! It was low season so was not crowded and still had good weather! We had an ocean view master preferred room with our butler Johan who went above and beyond to make sure we had a very special time including roses in our room and special dinner! Luis Balla booked us the parasailing with SeaPros which was a great time with beautiful views!! All of the staff members were great but a few went above and beyond including Maximo at the preferred pool bar, Kenny in the preferred lounge and Stephy at the Market Cafe/restaurants. The resort is beautiful and worth the travel to get here!
