Viva Miches by Wyndham

The NRG2GO yoga instructor was very proficient and knew her stuff. I’m so grateful that I could do yoga on vacation under the palm trees. A memory I will treasure!

A fantastic week at Viva Miches. The pro Yoga was my favorite part of the experience. I knew twice a day I could take time to pause and center (and stretch out my aching muscles) with gorgeous views and a professional yoga instructor.

I’m going to try to be as factual about my review as possible and then leave my opinion at the end. Pros: - Check in/ check out was quick and smooth. - Super child friendly. There are kids everywhere and everyone is so great about it. Baby cries/screams at dinner, no one bats an eye. - Beautiful beach / Large beach area with lots of chairs (although the shade is only provided by palm trees so people end up crowded in one area trying to get shade). - Common area bathrooms always very clean. - Grounds are well kept. - Food is good - not spectacular but what you can expect from a lot of resorts of an even higher rating. - Elevators are always working. - Everything is within walking distance. - Drinks are good. - Lots of entertainment options throughout the day. Good shows and lots of parties. The entertainment staff seemed very fun and engaging! Cons/potential Cons: - Service is truly hit or miss; everyone is nice but only a select few are helpful or care to be helpful. - Housekeeping was mediocre - some days they would leave used coffee bags in the coffee machine and wouldn’t replace mugs. Sometimes they’d skip your room entirely and you’d have to go find them in the halls to ask to go back to your room. - If you were missing something from the room (e.g. we never had a “clean/don’t disturbe” door tag), the person you’d speak to would direct you to someone else who would direct you to another and the issue would never get solved. We went the whole week without it because despite asking multiple times it never came). - The pool was cleaned every morning but the water never actually looked clean. It always had a slight murkiness to it. - Drinks in the fridge never got restocked. If you drank a coke on the first day, you wouldn’t have another again. - You’d often be missing either utensils, cups or napkins when you got to the buffet (even when it would just open and it was nearly empty). You’d also have to go find what you needed yourself because staff would often just stare at you rather than helping you get it. - If you don’t speak any Spanish, you may have communication challenges with some staff. - Water is not provided in water bottles. You get a refillable, glass one, heavy to carry around. Definitely bring your own if you like to have water on you. - Biting midges (maybe this is dependent on the time of year and of no fault of the hotel). They look like fleas and bite like mosquitoes. Leaves you terribly itchy and the bites can blister. - No small luxuries like bathrobes or slippers (if this is something you care about). - Ants in the room - we had some in our room but not enough to bother me. My mom had a bit of an infestation and it was in her closet all over her clothes. - Occasional questionable sanitary practices in the buffet - I saw a staff member open the plastic of a new Nutella tub with her teeth and then dropped the old tub, that was sitting in a Nutella stainless steel container, into the new Nutella tub. This was done very casually while I was standing right next to her so just makes you wonder what’s happening when you’re not there…) I travelled with my husband, mom and 5.5 month old. The experience was just okay. I don’t care too much about an above and beyond service from the staff; don’t need constant checking in or royalty treatment. However, I do expect the basic. I wish there was a better shade situation at the beach, especially because of the baby but if you just want sun, there isn’t really a problem with the beach. That said, it just seems like a “meh” place to vacation, maybe because of the comparisons I’ve made to other places I’ve stayed at. I don’t think I can agree on a 4 star rating for this one.

Very disappointed, I didn't know that they one stock the mini fridge and coffee only once for check-in... Every other all inclusive I have been to in Dominican Republic always refills the mini bar... They all so replace plastic water bottles with a glass bottle that you can refill when they are open at the buffet... If I would of known this I would of chose I different all inclusive 🙈😞. Also the system never had the option for me to make my reservation for the restaurant so I went to guest services and they fixed it but I lost one of my restaurant dinner, and they no compensation, not even trying to get me another dinner. Very disappointed that they did not make up for a mistake on there part... The food at the resort buffet did not have many choices and the had the same food every day, it was always the same lunch , same dinner items. I called the room service three times asking for towels for the room when they clean the room they didn't have towels but they never came back with them... It is now 10:00 at night still no towels.... Very disappointing also when I got into my room the sliding glass door for the balcony was completely broken off the sliding glass door... I saw the maintenance man outside in the same level floor doing repairs I mentioned it to him he said okay never came by nothing I went by later that evening and had to tell the guest services and then eventually somebody came.... I also went through one of their membership solicitations and they were boasting about how good the place was and that I was going to be buying a small package for the membership and everybody comes back for bigger packages... I find that very hard to believe since I'm here and the experience has not been as good as would have liked.... As for the a la carte restaurant that I went to called fusion Latino was very good no complaints staff was great food was good definitely made the experience better for the restaurant..... Overall my room experience was good meaning the room is clean it was updated air conditioning worked well I just did not like the non-stocking of the mini bar..... I gave it 3 stars after the restaurant experience if that would have turned out unexpectedly I definitely would have rated it 2 Stars.....

We had a great stay at Viva Miches by Wyndham. The rooms were clean and spacious. The food was delicious. We really loved the beach. It was long, with white sand and calm water. No seaweed at all. There was a variety of surface water sports, too. Aldana and Jeffry were very nice and friendly. They gave us quick instructions on how to go paddleboarding. The trip to Saona Island was amazing. We enjoyed swimming in the Caribbean Sea. We missed our boat on the way back to the resort. Carlos from Harby Internacional was very helpful. He took us on his speedboat to Bayahibe. Thank you, Carlos!
