Bancal Hotel & Spa

Very good and fresh hotel. Good rooms all with ocean and garden view View from taras also on Pico del Teide. 1144 rooms but design is specific so hotel is not tool. Very good food ,service. The only problem is with access to the beach because is at the hill. There are two beaches nearby but to one you need shuttle bus and second ,(I think) is in a process to be connected to hotel(I advise lift system) We rented car so we didn’t have problems to go anywhere. Shows every night. Overall we were very happy 😃

Very modern, new hotel. I personally loved the Architecture, the pools and spa and was nicer than alot of 5 star hotels I have stayed. Overall was a great stay and arguably the best hotel on the island. La Gomera is a small island and it does not have a very large tourist industry and I think this was reflected in the overall level of service experienced both in and out of the hotel. Staff were all friendly, but the service tended to be a bit hit and miss. Areas for improvement: -Cocktails were all poor quality and inconsistent. No fresh ingredients, pre-mixed, tasted artificial. -All menu's are accessed via smart phone. Some parts of the menu's hadn't been translated, most items lacked description. Found a few drinks on the menu that were not available for entire duration (e.g Cider) -Wine's were all good and the staff were all enthusiastic about their local produce, but the majority of the varieties were unfamiliar and there were no descriptions (e.g medium, sweet, dry) or pairings, so choosing a wine to go with meals was difficult. -Mini bar was not restocked for our entire stay, Water was not replaced. -Despite advertising scuba diving on the web site, no one on the front desk knew about it or could arrange for us. -Having to sign for every drinks order was tedious. Should be able to use room key to pay or just have everything assigned our room. Tips: -To make the most of the island, a car is required, the hotel can arrange for hire and pick up/drop off is from the hotel. -Whilst you can drink the water from the taps of the hotel it is not very pleasant. Take a large water bottle - there are water dispensers in the hotel. -September was windy and the hotel is quite exposed, if you want to come for sun bathing by the pool, it's not the best time.

Beautifully located hotel with exceptional facilities. La Gomera is a beautiful island with great opportunities for exploring by car, hiking and boat trips for whale and dolphin watching. The Bancal is really well located to go anywhere you would wish on La Gomera, it exceeded our expectations in every way. Very good food and service in the Lariffe restaurant and the buffet options and breakfast also very good. Lovely yoga and pool workout classes at no extra charge and also really enjoyed a visit to the spa facilities, well worth 25 euros each. Sadky couldn't fit in a spa treatment as we didn't have enough time! All in all a great experience, very helpful staff and we hope to return!

I would like to start this review by saying that myself and my partner are not really "hotel holidayers" we normally stay in Airbnb's or apartments so the idea of staying in a hotel is a bit alien to us Well after staying at the Bancal our heads have been turned. The hotel is architecturally brilliant and the staff are wonderful The whole week from check in to check out was brilliant, we had one issue with the TV and it was sorted before we returned from breakfast, and speaking of breakfast the selection and freshness was second to none and the same applies for the dinner buffet too. We were staying on a B&B basis but in our opinion the food at the hotel was of a better standard than the local restaurants! I'm not sure how many people were staying at the hotel but at times it felt like we were the only people there. I wouldn't hesitate to return to stay in this James bond villains hideout in the sun 👌🏻

Overall a great experience. At check-in the staff stated that we will only really come across other guests at the restaurant/buffet and this was true, this is due to the clever design of the hotel, the pools always had space and peace. Plenty of staff at hand never really had to queue for anything. Room: great design, bit unusual having frosted glass on your en-suite but ok. The rooms had some smoke alarms and these flashed all night which was a bit annoying but we liked the overall design of the rooms. Food; the food at every meal (half board) was excellent, plenty of choice and well presented. You would probably get used to the water (osmosis) after a couple of years 😆 We hired a car and I would say this is a must unless you just want to flop in peace by the pool - ideal for that. The car meant we were able to get water and milk for tea etc. roads on the island were very well maintained and as warned before, very twisty, we covered most of the island in the week we were there. All staff, without exception were always happy and helpful, even when we checked out at 5:50 in the morning! We always judge a hotel on whether we would go back again and we would definitely go back to Bancal! Thank you
