Parador Conde de la Gomera

Location good but hotel may fall off cliff in near future. Atmosphere is calm and pleasant both inside and out! Rooms spacious but time for decoration. Value hard to quantify as cost includes €90 ferry crossings. Cleanliness exceptional throughout. Noise levels very quiet apart from the sound of those doing freestyle in pool. Breaststroke more tranquil. Service in restaurant was not what you expect from a 4* hotel. Waiters poorly trained and one in particular was unreservedly rude to clientele. Waitresses however were lovely. Not much English spoken so confusion with orders. Pool is lovely, lifeguards on hand all day in case you drown! Games room and library good for bad weather. Overall great hotel in need of trained staff.

A terrific location with great sea views and very well kept garden. Very friendly and helpful staff. Built in 1972 and showing some signs of wear in our superior room with a sea view. High standard of linen and towels. Breakfast service a bit chaotic but lots of choice in the buffet. Dinner service much better and delicious menu, good to sit near the windows in the dining room as more atmospheric.

Our stay in de Parador de la Gomera provided us with a very nice experience. The beatiful lay out of the Parador, as well as the lovely garden and friendly staff made our stay unforgettable

A haven of tranquility overlooking the sea from atop the cliff overlooking the harbour. A wonderful position. Our room was spotless. The bar was well stocked and not expensively priced. The gardens were pretty and the pool and hot tub not at all crowded. Parking - should you rent a car - was free, and the hotel has an arrangement with a local firm whose representative arrived on time with a car, and allowed us simply to leave the key at reception when done. Sadly, the restaurant service was not of the exacting standard one would expect of a Parador. Late sitting at breakfast inevitably meant sitting where there was an unused table with little incentive, or rush, to clear those tables that had been used and a rather slow experience at dinner one evening was disappointing. I would not, however, allow the experience in the restaurant to deter me from staying again. There are plenty of alternative places to have dinner in San Sebastian. And if I was that keen to have a seat overlooking the gardens at breakfast, perhaps next time I should get up a little earlier.

My husband and I had an amazing experience - an stunning location, tranquil gardens and courtyards, lovely art - a unique place. And exceptionally helpful and friendly service. Ironically before checking in my husband was very unerved by quite a lot of very negative reviews - nothing mentioned in those reviews ended up being an issue - it was quite the opposite!! so dont be put off - had we changed our reservration we would have missed a really special place to stay.
