Hotel sam o sobe je nadherny. Zvenku, uvnitr, atrium, zahrady, bazeny, ta nejvic top bufetova restaurace, i vetsina cisniku a lide z recepce jsou mili, krasne to vsude voni ... ALE? Na 5* spousta nedotazeni. I kdyz ma clovek plnou penzi a dokoupi si napoje na den “bez omezeni” za nemale penize, ceka trapne jak pitomec, nez si ho nekdo na baru vsimne a pak jeste musi podepisovat ucty.., to neni normalni. Malem jsme kolikrat v tom horku umreli zizni a to si sli jen pro vody! Nealko, nebo aspon vody, by mely byt volne kdykoliv pristupne a ne na objednavani! Uklid pokoju - u nas tragedie. 5dni jsme cekali na vylesteni zrcadel od neciho cela, ze srandy do nej kremem udelali i oci a nos. Vymena rucniku az po 3dnech, kdy jsme si o to vylozene rekli, pak prevlekla i postele, jinak by nic nebylo. Hlavni bufet restaurace - uzasna!!! Jen ty cekacky u vchodu dosti ponizujici. Ale resi to moznost objednani terasy na cas, coz je skvele a vyuzivali jsme. Sushi restaurace = tragedie! Cekali jsme 1/2hodiny nez nam dali vodu, dalsich 15min na kartu, ostatni hosty dosle po nas pritom obsluhovali. Personal neprijemny, az arogantni. Jidlo chabe, se sushi x japonskymi delikatesami nema co cinit. Obdobne strasne i Osa bar na veceri. Myslim, ze je stale co u zamestnancu v takovem hotelu napravovat x je vice hlidat. Aby meli hoste opravdu pocit, ze si za sve penize patricny nadstandart uziji a nebudou mit pocit, ze jsou prehlizeni ci na obtiz. Kazdopadne - pres vse vyse napsane to byl skvely zazitek a verim, ze se nekdy opet vratime. Urcite doporucuji, ze zkusenosti z jinych hotelu na Tenerife byl tento opravdu TOP.

Overall hotel room & pool area is nice with a lot of activities for kids to do. We opted to go for the all inclusive package, however was charged for a full day on the Saturday even though we arrived at 10pm in the evening and couldn`t any of the all inclusive facilities that day. When I spoke to reception, they basically said too bad, the room is available all day and you chose to arrive late in the evening. Was very disappointed that they didnt offer some other amenity to cover for what we didnt get for that one day, rather than to tell us too bad. We also booked Bali beds at the pool for two days, and definitely recommend it, however the service is very poor. On the first day, we ordered some food to the Bali bed (chips & fruit platter) and it took over 1 hour for it to arrive, which by that time my wife and two kids went back to the room to get something else to eat. On the second day we were at the Bali bed from 10:30 - 18:00 and while we pressed the bell multiple times for bar/drinks service, the waiters only come once, with us going up to the bar the other times to get our own drinks. Overall a nice hotel, but poor service.

I had really high hopes for Gran Meliá Tenerife. It is marketed as a 5-star hotel, and after seeing so many glowing reviews on TripAdvisor and social media, including TikTok and Instagram, we were genuinely excited to stay here. Unfortunately, after our experience, I would rate this hotel 3/4 stars at best and that is being generous. There are certainly some lovely members of staff, and when you do receive good service, it is genuinely good. However, we also encountered staff who were quite rude and unhelpful, which really affected the overall experience. Check-in Our holiday didn’t get off to the best start. We were left waiting for over an hour to check in, despite repeatedly being told it would only be another five minutes, then another 20 minutes. For a hotel of this supposed standard, I expected a much smoother arrival experience. The Red Level upgrade We originally booked standard all-inclusive but were offered the opportunity to upgrade to Red Level for around €1,400 extra. We were sold this as a significant upgrade, including a slightly larger room, better drinks, an improved all-inclusive package and access to exclusive Red Level areas. Unfortunately, even after spending that additional €1,400, the all-inclusive offering still felt disappointing compared with other all-inclusive hotels we have stayed at. The all-inclusive finishes at 11pm, which I found particularly surprising for a hotel marketed at this level. We also found that some of the facilities simply weren’t functioning properly. The lifts weren’t always working which was is nuisance if you have a pram and the coffee machines were broken. On one occasion, my husband went into the restaurant to get a morning coffee from the machine inside around 10 minutes before opening because the outside machines weren’t working. Rather than simply helping, staff became quite shirty with him and told him he couldn’t use the machine until they opened despite him explaining that the outside machines were broken. They insisted he had to wait Staff didn’t seem to take notice of the Red Level branding band you are given at check-in, and it was clear that if you didn’t specifically ask for the branded alcohol, you were often given the cheaper options. It’s the small things like this that make you question where the 5-star service actually is. À la carte restaurants One of the biggest disappointments came when we tried to book the à la carte restaurants. After paying an additional €1,400 for Red Level, we went to book our restaurants and were told that every restaurant was fully booked for the entire week. We went back to double-check with concierge because we couldn’t believe this was the case and we were told again that they were completely booked. Naturally, my husband complained because we had specifically paid for an upgraded package that was supposed to provide a better experience and access to these facilities. To their credit, the hotel eventually managed to get us booked into the restaurants. However, we still couldn’t get into the teppanyaki restaurant, which was actually the one we were most looking forward to. What made this even more frustrating was that when we eventually ate at some of the à la carte restaurants, they were nowhere near full. In fact, they were surprisingly empty It was therefore very difficult to understand why we had been told they were completely booked when there appeared to be plenty of empty tables. The food in the à la carte restaurants is also questionable 5-star food. I’d avoid the steak house altogether. Cleanliness – definitely not 5 star This was probably my biggest issue. Our room simply did not feel 5-star clean. The shower was full of drainage flies, to the point that I avoided using it altogether. We complained about this three separate times, yet nothing was done to resolve the problem. The room generally didn’t have that clean, fresh feeling you expect from a 5-star hotel. The restaurant tables were also frequently sticky and didn’t feel particularly clean. For me, cleanliness is non-negotiable at a 5-star hotel, and this hotel fell short. Food Unfortunately, the food also wasn’t what I would expect from a 5-star resort. There were flies around the food, particularly at the Italian lunch buffet, which was extremely off-putting. We became so fed up with the food towards the end of our stay that we actually started eating out instead. I even stopped bothering with breakfast. And the pastries deserve a special mention — they were often covered in something sticky. Nobody wants sticky pastries; we want flaky pastries! Even the food in the Red Level areas didn’t feel particularly special or worthy of the price we had paid for the upgrade. The hotel itself I can completely understand why this hotel would have been considered 5-star when it originally opened around 18 years ago, but it feels like it has fallen behind and has a lot of catching up to do. The hotel feels dated, tired and somewhat run down in places. There are definitely areas that are beautiful, and the location itself is lovely, but the overall standard does not, in my opinion, match what I would expect from a modern 5-star hotel. Pool area One thing I would strongly recommend to families is bringing pool shoes/socks for children. I actually cut my foot on the damaged drainage system around the main saltwater pool. That really shouldn’t happen at a 5-star resort. The main saltwater pool and the children’s splash pool are actually lovely — in fact, this was our favourite area of the hotel. The setting is beautiful and it’s a really nice place to relax. However, there is not much entertainment around the main pool, as it seems most of the activities and entertainment are reserved for the Red Level pool area. The Red Level family pool is also extremely busy, so don’t expect the exclusive pool area to necessarily feel particularly exclusive. And then there’s the daily sunbed race! I never thought we’d be one of those families getting up early to claim a sunbed, but at this hotel you almost have no choice. If you don’t get up early enough, you can struggle to find a decent place to sit. Again, that’s not the kind of experience I associate with a 5-star resort. Social media expectations I also have to mention the huge difference between our expectations and reality. We had seen countless glowing reviews and posts about this hotel on TripAdvisor, TikTok and Instagram, which played a big part in choosing it. After staying here, I genuinely don’t understand how the experience we had can be so different from some of the content we saw beforehand. Obviously, I can’t say whether any particular reviews or social media posts are sponsored or staged, but it did make me question how representative some of the online content actually is. Overall There are positives. Some members of staff are lovely, the hotel has a beautiful location and there are certainly parts of the resort that have potential. But for us, the negatives outweighed the positives. For a hotel marketed as 5-star, I expected exceptional cleanliness, consistently excellent service, high-quality food and an all-inclusive experience that felt genuinely premium. Instead, we experienced: * Poor cleanliness in our room * Drainage flies in the shower despite reporting them three times * Sticky/unclean restaurant tables * Flies around food * Disappointing food quality * Broken coffee machines * Lifts not working * A very long check-in * Rude interactions with some staff * An all-inclusive package that finishes at 11pm * Difficulty booking restaurants despite paying €1,400 for Red Level * A Red Level family pool that was still extremely busy * Damaged pool drainage that resulted in me cutting my foot * Constant competition for sunbeds * A hotel that feels dated and in need of refurbishment Overall, I would give Gran Meliá Tenerife 4 stars at best. Perhaps our expectations were simply too high because of the hotel’s reputation and the amount of positive content online, but having stayed here, I would not consider this a true 5-star experience. There is a good hotel underneath it all, but it needs investment, better maintenance, better consistency from staff and, in my opinion, a significant improvement in the food and all-inclusive offering to genuinely justify its 5-star status. Sadly, we left feeling disappointed particularly because we paid an additional €1,400 for Red Level expecting that it would elevate the experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora. It is a beautiful resort with impressive architecture, spacious and comfortable rooms, excellent food and exceptional service throughout. The facilities and overall atmosphere made our family holiday truly memorable. A special thank you to Alejandro at reception, who gave us such a warm welcome, made the check-in process seamless and kindly helped us arrange a late checkout. We would also like to recognise Felipe Camargo and Barbara Illényi from the Circle team. Their service was outstanding, and they made us feel genuinely valued throughout our stay. They explained and arranged the VIP Circle benefits exceptionally well and played an important part in our decision to upgrade our membership from Blue to Red Circle. Thank you to the entire team for your warmth, professionalism and attention to detail. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would be delighted to return.

This is our third stay here and probably the last. Everything has shifted making choice of food very limited. Whilst this hotel boasts a wide selection of food choice the reality is significantly different. Poolside menu is now very limited. Today alone we was rejected from four restaurants despite them being near empty. We tried to book and look at menus on the app which ultimately is not user friendly at all making it near impossible to book a restaurant ahead of time. We paid additional to be redlevel members which really had no benefit other than absolutely delightful and hardworking staff. This politeness did not extend beyond the redlevel and instead was met with curtness and borderline hostility by hostesses of multiple restaurants. It’s a shame to say that this will be the last time visiting with less bars open, paper cups, limit on towel use etc changing what felt like a luxurious experience to a very average, limited experience where we are lucky if we can eat anywhere other than the buffet.
