We stayed here for four nights at the end of September on a half-board basis, having booked only the weekend before travelling. Within 48 hours of booking, Jet2 advised that the main pool would be closing for refurbishment partway through our stay. To their credit, this gave us the opportunity to switch hotels, and with hindsight I wish we had taken that option. We arrived at around 1pm and were advised that our room would not be available until 3pm, so we spent some time in the pool bar area enjoying the welcome drink. One nice touch was that a member of staff escorted us to our room with our luggage, which saved the usual search around a large resort. The room itself was spacious, clean on first impression and equipped with everything expected. However, the "double bed" was clearly two single beds pushed together with very much a separate bed approach , not masked as a double as some resorts do. The balcony was also one of the least impressive we have experienced across numerous 4 and 5-star hotels. The bathroom was generously sized and stocked with Rituals toiletries, which was a plus, although the toilet was not separated by its own door. The shower was good, but we noticed that our feet noticeably dirty when showering, suggesting the floor may not have been cleaned as thoroughly as it initially appeared. Breakfast offered a good selection and was generally enjoyable. However, service could be inconsistent, particularly when it came to hot drinks. Staff were often slow to offer coffee, and on more than one occasion we had to ask for this ourselves. Dinner was more challenging. The salad selection was excellent, but the hot food options were less appealing and the labelling system was confusing, with labels arranged in a single row that did not clearly correspond to the dishes on offer. As someone who rarely struggles to find suitable choices at a hotel buffet, I found dinner disappointing on several evenings. The Italian-themed night was easily the standout meal of our stay. One of the biggest negatives was the restaurant service. Used plates frequently remained on tables for extended periods, and clearing service was noticeably slower than we have experienced at comparable 4 and 5-star hotels. This was particularly surprising given how quiet the restaurant was throughout much of our stay. While not a major issue in isolation, it contributed to a dining experience that felt below the standard expected of a hotel in this category. Following the closure of the main pool, sunbeds were relocated to the lobby bar area. While this offered lovely views over the sea and town, the beds were positioned very close together, making the experience feel crowded and less relaxing. Guests largely moved to the Level pool area instead. The beds themselves were comfortable, but the mattress covers were noticeably stained and appeared overdue for a more effective cleaning process. Having stayed in another Canary Islands hotel earlier this year with a similar setup, daily washing of these covers was clearly possible and made a significant difference. One aspect that may divide opinion is the location. Many reviewers describe it as excellent, but for us it was a major drawback. The hotel is built on a steep hillside, with numerous steps connecting different areas of the property. While lifts are available, they do not access every level directly, meaning stairs are often unavoidable. Guests with mobility concerns should definitely take this into consideration. The location outside the hotel presents a similar challenge. Reaching the nearest shops involves a steep walk downhill, followed by the inevitable climb back up. For exploring further into Costa Adeje, taxis often become the more practical option. Guests on an all-inclusive package may be less affected, but those staying on a bed and breakfast or half-board basis should factor in either regular taxi fares or a significant amount of walking. Ultimately, I can understand why many guests enjoy this hotel. There are certainly positives, including friendly service, good views and some attractive facilities. However, several issues combined to impact our overall experience. Having visited the Canary Islands multiple times every year for the past decade, I feel I have a good basis for comparison. In my view, there are better-located hotels in Costa Adeje offering a stronger overall experience for a similar price point. Others may disagree, but this hotel simply did not live up to expectations for us.
The hotel is beautiful fabulous seaviews. The food staff and cleanliness is top notch. We had a junior suite with Seaview. This hotel is set into the hill side and we were on floor 6. This involved taking 3 lifts to get to the pool. This hotel has lots of steps and is not suitable if you have even slight mobility issues. There is a gate on floor -1 which takes you onto the roadway. It is 20 mins walk to playa del que. And about a half hour to fanabe strip. Again a lot of steps are involved. The main pool area is disgraceful. The black marks and mould are horrific the sunbeds are soaked and marked with goodness knows what. Sadly this let's the hotel down.
We had such a great stay at Meliá Jardines del Teide and honestly couldn’t fault it! The room was really big, clean and tidy, which was great. All the staff were really friendly and always happy to help whenever we needed anything. The pool area was brilliant and the bar was great too — definitely spent a fair bit of time there! The food was really good as well, with plenty of choice. The entertainment on an evening was amazing too! With different things each night. We went all inclusive and I’d definitely recommend doing the same. It just made everything so much easier and meant we could properly relax and enjoy the holiday. The location of the hotel is about a 10 minute walk to where the main strip of restaurants and things are if you feel like going elsewhere. Overall, we had a brilliant time and would 100% stay here again. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you’re heading to Tenerife! ☀️🌴🍹
Melia Jardines del Teide Hotel - Adults Only - 5* Hotel - I don't think so - barely 4*!! On arrival there was no porter to help us with our luggage into the Reception Area, and nobody to welcome us!!! Arriving at Reception, we were told no food was available, hurriedly allocated our room without any introductory letter explaining the facilities of the hotel. Any bottled water in the rooms would be charged - never been charged at any previous 5* Hotel!!! Halfway through our stay (27th September) the main pool was closed off to be re-painted - no prior information given to us - we only found out from the staff removing the sunbeds - it's not due to be finished until 7th October, as far as I know. No change in bed linen until the 12th day. The hotel was generally clean and tidy. The one real saving grace for the hotel was the staff, who in the main were polite, friendly and extremely helpful. Sadly we will not be returning to this hotel and are unlikely to use Melia Hotels again, it was a shame that no one at the hotel seem prepared to speak to us about the problems in the hotel. It was fortunate that the weather was generally sunny and warm.
A mixed review. Good points Lovely hotel, staff absolutely amazing friendly helpfully nothing too much trouble. Our room a junior suite with seaviews room 660. Beautiful room fab location 2 balconies comfortable beds. The room was serviced everyday to a high standard. Food lovely selection I really liked in the evening you selected your meat product and they show cooked if for you. The entertainment each evening was varied sonenights better than others. It was a chilled relaxed vibe. This is definitely not a party hotel. The hotel is situated on a hill at the end of Costa Adeje.the resort is based over 9 levels built into the hillside each level is connected by a series of lifts. The walk into playa Del Que is around 15 to 20 mins downhill, please be aware the walk back is around 30 minutes and it's all uphill fanabe beach and strip is another 10 minutes away. A taxi is around 6 euros by day and 10 by night. This hotel is not for anyone who has mobility issues or suffers with cardio vascular problems. The most disappointing aspect of this hotel was the main pool areas absolutely horrific and the sunbeds dirty and marked. While we was there they closed the main pool and redirected everyone to the exclusive level pool. Whilst this pool was in a better condition it was way too small to accommodate everyone. The entertainment terrace was repurposed for the additional sunbeds. The knock-on effect was evening entertainment was then crammed into a small bar. As guests, we were not informed of these issues before we arrived. The first we knew was on Sunday when they started moving things around. Previous reviews on this site say this work was planned and known about months ago. Would I go to this hotel again? No
