Melia Jardines del Teide

This hotel was amazing & I only have one fault. You have to get up super early to get a sunbed ( we got up in the dark at 7.30am). We did not want to pay more money for the level as the hotel was expensive enough & the level was not guaranteed to get you a sunbed in the sunshine as I noticed there were empty beds all in the shade & most guests had grabbed the beds in sunshine first. The other thing you can do is skip pool & go to beach instead On a positive note, the room was fantastic as we upgraded to view with seaview. Very good size room & beds were extremely comfortable. The evening entertainment was excellent probably some of the best acts I have ever seen live. The maids cleaned room everyday & gave a bottle of champagne & cake for hubbys birthday The staff in pool bar & evening bar were very friendly & professional The reception staff were always polite & welcoming & so were the towel staff. We did not eat dinner at hotel as we opted for bed & breakfast.

Check in was the usual case of not giving you enough information! We didn’t know what we were entitled to all inclusive and they made it difficult to find out! The day after arriving we tried to book the Italian and a rather abrupt receptionist told me it was fully booked until next Tuesday! We tried again later and a nicer woman booked us in! The rooms were fine, very bland, poor lighting, no dressing table with a mirror near it, badly laid out! You can’t use the mini bar as a part of the all inclusive, you have to pay extra as per usual to use a few of the nicer restaurants unless you’re in the CIRCLE! The sun beds were dirty! The pool was a good size but the area is tired! The food was on repeat at lunch time with items such as Tuna and egg removed mid week! Food ok, but not good quality meat! The location of the hotel means loads of large hills to walk up to get back! No info on local transport or a shuttle bus! Believe me if you find it difficult to walk it’s NOT for you! On the whole we found it ok, some decent entertainment at night, very loud if you go to your room but it finished at 10.30! Check what’s available and what’s not, because there is qua lot that’s extra

So As per other reviews of this hotel. When we arrived on the 28th September for an 8 night stay we checked in. The weather wasn't great so we decided to take a look around. We went down to the maim pool and all i can say is wow. It was disgusting and not what we had envisaged from all the glamorous photos the Melia group push on their website. We complained about this to the reception on the Sunday evening and were told that someone would contact us. This didn't happen. We just found a flyer pushed under the door to advise the main pool shut and we would be able to use the other "Level" pool up by the Bar area. They hotel hurriedly moved all the sun loungers up to the evening bar area, taking away the space reserved for evening entertainment. This was another area we couldn't use. Unfortunately on the morning of the 29th my partner broke her wrist so spent the next 24hrs at the hospital having an operation to fit a plate and screws to the wrist. We returned to the hotel on Tuesday and still no contact from the hotel. so i began trying to get some answers and was pretty much dismissed with the hotel advising we had a pool to use. This was not the point and not what i had booked. I sent some emails and the hotel offered to upgrade our room. My partner was in significant pain and did not feel she was able to pack up and move. The hotel basically advised this was all they could do and were sorry we refused the upgrade. I have asked numerous times if they could extend the offer of a room upgrade for a future visit and each time met with nothing or a generic email reply. The management and customer service are shocking, all other staff were great.

Awful experience overcharged by 2000 euros and had my sunglasses and shoes stolen out of my suite
