Radisson Resort & Residences Tenerife

We had a very average stay at this hotel. You are within about 15-20 minute walking distance of Puerto de la Cruz, just be prepared for the hill walk on the way back up to the hotel. We were told there is a free shuttle bus service which we didn’t utilise as we had hired a car so we’re able to drive everywhere but there are enough facilities nearby within walking distance if needed.Parking is just a case of luck, some days we were able to park right outside other days we had to park a few streets away. The style of the resort and rooms are very modern, there are lovely gardens which we could see were well maintained by grounds staff during our stay. Plenty of toilets around the resort. Gym is very small but enough if you want to get something small done.Pool was clean and there were plenty of sunbeds available. Pool temperature seemed to change dependent on how hot the day was which was very nice. Whether we had music round the pool was very random. There was very little atmosphere around the pool and it was very quiet (for us in a bad way). Lifeguard was very strict and didn’t really seem like you could have any fun. There were some pool activities like yoga but all seemed very slow and just made the resort seem very quiet. You could constantly have fresh pool towels and swap them for a pool card to redeem new ones each day. Our hotel room was modern and spacious, bed was comfy but the pillows weren’t for us. We were a bit unsure on how the rooms were cleaned as it seemed some days they just made our bed and other days we were randomly given a new towel or 2. Would have liked to have had a toilet brush in our room as well. The biggest issue for us with the room was the noise level. The ceilings are clearly very thin and you can basically hear everything the room above you does. Even when they flush the toilet you hear the water running fairly loudly. One evening the room above was playing fairly loud music which reception helped and resolved the issue fairly quickly which was good. The 2 main issues we struggled with this hotel was the communication and food. Staff were smiley but nothing was really explained to us properly on check in we felt. Pool towels weren’t explained to us until we asked where and how everyone was getting them. We were given the wrong times for dinner and breakfast by 2 different members of staff (only by minimal margins but it’s more the point that we were a bit confused and they didn’t fully know themselves). I think in general check-in just seemed a bit rocky and not as warm or welcome as it should be. Didn’t seem to be much continuity in how things were done. Also it seemed very random on when the resort would shut down for the night, some nights the bar area remained open till 23:30 but other nights they were packed away by then and staff were wondering around almost as if we felt we had to leave. We paid for the half board package which was really disappointing. Breakfast was the better out of the 2 meal times. Bread, drinks, cheese and meats, fruit, cakes/pastries, bits to make a fried breakfast, the section to make your own omelette. This was ok but most things felt frozen and very samey. Good selection of coffee, fruit juices etc. When it came to dinner we were shocked to find that every drinks machine had been shut off including the water which I think is ridiculous. We didn’t want to pay for water for dinner each day so brought our own bottles in and used the water fountain by the gym for dinner. There was a grill section which we didn’t trust after we were served raw fish on the first night. Dinner was extremely samey, fish and meat just seemed to be cooked the same way in the same sauce and often the sides were exactly the same. Would have liked to have had some more international dishes on there. Supposedly there is a different dinner theme each night but we could never really tell what it was supposed to me as each night was so similar. There was a large salad section, puddings were tasteless but the ice cream and sorbet was nice One evening we had ordered a strawberry daiquiri at the bar which was tasteless. They remade it and again was the same. He explained they didn’t use fresh strawberries and basically admitted it wasn’t a very nice drink. Very kindly he gave us 2 pina coladas to make up for it but again they were very strong and not well made. From speaking with other guests they have also had odd measurements in there drinks so just be wary of that if ordering from the bar. For us the look of the hotel is deceiving. The modern look is not paired with any kind of atmosphere. There is a music act each night but it would be nice if there was some other sort of evening entertainment. The hotel is just a bit meh, quite boring really. We would not rate this 5 stars and probably would say it’s 2.5. We won’t be returning here.

Great hotel, good surroundings

We loved this place - most of the staff were great! The rooms, the breakfast, the pool, the shuttle bus to town, the housekeeping - all of these were amazing! Couldn’t fault. Two things I’d flag - one was the gym was literally a sweat box… and that was before I tried any weights. And the bar staff in the afternoon- wow. It felt like they were overwhelmed when more than two people were there and that it was an inconvenience to serve you. A highlight was when we ordered red wine and got half a jug of sangria! It is not a reason to not come back, as overall we did really enjoyed this hotel, but it was slightly off putting.

I arrived at 22.45 to find a good selection of food in my room. The hotel is lovely. Staff are cleaning and working on the grounds from very early in the morning. It is spotless. Food is amazing . Lots of choice at breakfast and dinner. The bar serves food at lunch. Closest supermarket is 1km away. It is a very tranquil holiday. No entertainment apart from a singer in the evening who finishes at 10pm. Tonight's vocalist was very good but unfortunately had to share the room with a tv showing football. Disappointed as she's been the best all week.

Fabulous. We were upgraded on arrival and received a salad dinner in our room because we arrived at 11pm. Room was spotless, as was pool area and restaurants. Breakfast was stunning and plentiful. We were half board and would recommend as the surrounding area is devoid of many places to eat. The hotel provides a complementary bus into town which is a 15 minute walk away. Quiet town and relaxing holiday. If you want nightlife, Puerto de la Cruz is probably not for you, but if you want a chilled relaxing holiday, the Radisson is fabulous.
