TUI BLUE Atlantic Hills

Wonderful 11 nights break with my wife at Atlantic Hills tui blue. Made super special by Jorge, manager plus Juan Pedro and Roberto mainly at pool bar/restaurant. The staff in general were magnificent and helped make our adult only break superb in every detail. Wonderful Canarian red wine was amazing and bar drinks generally excellent.

The hotel is beautiful. Extremely clean, modern and staff are friendly. The activities included in the stay are good fun and easy to book through an app. The food is great for a buffet type restaurant and has lots of choice. We get one night in the à la carte in our stay too which was lovely. Only negative is there isn’t much around the hotel to do and it is a step downhill walk to the town which doesn’t offer much in terms of entertainment either. The walk back up is over 300 stairs so is completely impossible for those with mobility issues. A shuttle bus to and from may be a good idea as I have experienced something similar in other resorts.

This was our second visit to Atlantic Hills after previously visiting in 2024 just after it had been refurbished. We again booked a Club room which although quite small and with limited storage, does give access to the Serenity Pool - which is just for the 9 club rooms. This is a nice and peaceful area to relax and each room comes with a choice of sun beds and umbrella to shade against the sun. The hotel had been further ‘completed’ since our last visit and was in great shape. The addition of gym, sauna and additional restaurant (The Culinariam) were welcome extras. Staff remained friendly and helpful and always had a smile. Cleaning was excellent and the cleaners were always polite and friendly. The pool bar was also a nice place to be with great staff. Having had problems with the main restaurant on our previous visit, we contacted the management in advance to determine if improvements had been made - especially in dealing with allergies. While it was true to say that they now recognised food allergies and improved labelling, and the maitre D was very helpful, the food in general had not improved and was not what we are used to when visiting 4 and 5 star hotels as we do several times each year. Still poor quality and over cooked dishes, still fruit that was clearly cut up the day before. Breakfast was their worst - with bacon that had been oven cooked so that it was as hard as concrete, scrambled eggs that were hugely over cooked, mushrooms that were oven cooked and dry, sausages that had no colour and yet were also dried out. Meats serverd at dinner were tough and vegetables obliterated through over boiling. Hence, we ate out most nights. We did use the Culinariam à la carte restaurant and this was a breath of fresh air. À nice place to be, great staff, food that was much better (but do not expect fine dining). So - in conclusion. This is a nice hotel in à quiet area above Puerto de la Cruz. However, unless you are happy to accept poor quality, badly cooked food, then it may not be for you.

We love Tenerife - have always gone South, but we got a great late deal with Tui and decided to go to Puerto De La Cruz for a change. Yes, we had done our research - I always do!, and knew it would be somewhat cloudier and humid - yes it was, but we also had a LOT of sunshine with clear skies, and temperatures were in the mid/high 20’s. The hotel sits high up next to Tauro park - the area is very green in contrast to the south, and is quiet. The walk down to Puerto De La Cruz takes about 15 mins - either by steps, or the road; the steep walk back up takes a bit longer - we did the steps once, then after that walked up the roadway every time. The hotel itself was lovely - a mix of modern/traditional character throughout…we had a modern room on the 4th floor of block B - overlooking the pools/sea with a good sized balcony. It was spotlessly clean, with a huge comfy bed, decent air con, a good sized bathroom with a great rain shower, a decent hairdryer and large fluffy towels. Storage is a little bit limited - but we took advice from other reviews and took extra hangers and packing cubes and managed to keep our room tidy and clutter free. We enjoyed a swim everyday - the pool wasn’t too cold and it was a decent size with plenty of sunbeds and parasols. You get a free bottle of water on arrival, but after that nothing - but this is common in other hotels we’ve stayed at elsewhere. We bought bottles of water from the nearby Tauro restaurant bar (turn right out the hotel and round the bend - it's in the park). They also do fantastic cocktails, as does Alberto’s bar (turn left out the hotel and follow the road and it’s signposted on the right at the end of a little road). We could not complain about the food at all - I’m a fussy eater, but always found something to eat, and it was hot and plentiful. We ate at the culunariam one evening - we loved it - our waiter for the evening was brilliant - J. Ramos I think he was called - thank you! Staff throughout the hotel were ALL very friendly, kind and attentive. The entertainment was low key - and didn’t go on till late - perfect for us as we prefer it that way. We also booked the circuit spa for 2 hours (€20 each) and really enjoyed it - having the whole place to ourselves so even better! One slight niggle that I think can be improved on - we had a very early pick up before flying home - it states there’s an early risers breakfast from 6-7 am….we were a bit disappointed as there was a coffee machine (we don’t like coffee), some flavoured water and a few sweet buns - nothing else, so we went without. Tui Blue in Los Gigantes had croissants/fruit/toast/fruit juice for their early risers when we stayed there last year, so would have thought there would have been something on a similar level. There’s not an awful lot to do in the area compared to the south - no boat trips. Loro park is nearby - but at €40 each we decided not to bother. We did use the local bus to go to Garrachio. Playa Jardin nearby has a lovely beach and Puerto De La Cruz has a lovely sea front to walk around. We would highly recommend Tui Blue Atlantic Hills if wanting to stay in the North.

Our experience at the TUI blue Atlantic Hills! First off is location - don't think the reviews are clear enough that if you are going to Puerto de la Cruz, you are most likely going to experience cloud every day. We got about two hours of sun, if that, per day. One day we got no sun at all. The hotel is on the top of a hill, around 15 minutes walk into town which is all down hill. You can get a taxi back up from outside McDonald's for less than 5 euros, which was very convenient! Puerto de la Cruz is quiet and full of local people, rather than a tourist trap. This does mean there aren't really any excursions around locally for when the cloud hits! Atmosphere - the hotel is adults only and is very quiet. This was what we were after so it fitted the bill. The pool was quiet, no fighting over sun beds, but again, not really any sun to fight over. The evening entertainment is poor, not very lively. The only good one was the flamenco dancer and back up music! They could do with a quiz/bingo or something to liven it up. The room was really nice with a great view. The bed was massive and housekeeping were great. The pools are nice but not heated. The jacuzzi area is also really nice. The food was 50/50. Breakfast, the hot food was often luke warm/cold, so ended up sticking to fruit and cold food. The evening buffet was fantastic, lots of fresh hot meals, a variety of meats and a live cooking station that changed each night. We had one night in the culinarium included. Tbh wish we'd stuck to the buffet. The menu was very limited and didn't fully describe each dish, and left us feeling like we were on a bush tucker trial. Not one for us. I would say you definitely have to plan your days out before you go. We wanted to use the spa whilst we were there. Asked on our first day and it was fully booked, and the next two days they weren't offering massages, etc so we missed out on that. We met with the TUI blue rep to ask about excursions as we were disappointed by the weather and were told everything was fully booked until the following week. Again disappointing. We ended up hiring a car through the hotel which was good. We got the smallest car for 40 euro, around £34, for the day and explored the national park! We got to chase some sun round the south side of the island. Would recommend getting a car for when the cloud sets in! Staff were okay, didn't find them the most friendly and although they had English flags on their badge to indicate English speaking, they often had to use google translate. Activities were planned but didn't always run. The best was the aqua aerobics, the girl who ran that was lovely. I think if the sun had been out, we would have enjoyed the hotel a lot more and the pool, but unfortunately the hotel doesn't have enough on offer or availability for when the weather is poor and this is something to consider when clouds are so frequent. I would definitely say this is a 3 star hotel rather than a 4 star.
