The location of the hotel is extremely remote. It is situated up a very steep hill, and while the walk down into town is relatively easy, the walk back up is a completely different story and is more of a trek than a walk. We ended up getting taxis back from town, which cost around €5, so it wasn’t particularly expensive, but it is something prospective guests should be made aware of. The weather during our stay was cloudy, which obviously is not the hotel’s fault. However, I do feel that the reviews we read before booking did not accurately reflect what the weather can be like in this part of Tenerife. If you are looking for reliable sunshine and a traditional hot-weather holiday, I would strongly advise considering somewhere other than the north of Tenerife. Unfortunately, the biggest issue we experienced was the attitude of the staff. The cleaning staff were absolutely lovely and were some of the friendliest people we encountered during our stay. However, our experience with the more customer-facing staff was completely different. My partner and I are 21 and 22, and we were probably one of the youngest couples staying at the hotel. From the moment we arrived, we felt that we were treated differently because of our age. Staff were frequently dismissive, unfriendly and, at times, simply unhelpful. For a hotel charging 4-star prices, this level of customer service is extremely disappointing. Our room itself was comfortable and cosy, and the bed was absolutely massive and very comfortable. However, there was a serious lack of storage for luggage. I had to unpack my belongings and leave them at the foot of the bed because there simply wasn’t anywhere else to put them. This is not something I would expect from a 4-star hotel. There were also “tea and coffee making facilities” in the room, yet there was no coffee or milk provided. I found this particularly strange. We ended up having to go to the shop and buy our own milk. If a hotel advertises tea and coffee-making facilities, I would expect the basic ingredients required to actually use them to be provided. Our fridge was also leaking, which was another unnecessary issue during our stay. There was some live music in the evenings, although we didn’t attend. Thankfully, we couldn’t hear this from our room, so that was not an issue. However, on multiple occasions we heard banging, crashing, screaming and shouting from our room. Considering this is an adults-only hotel, we found this particularly strange and disruptive. The pools were another disappointment. Both pools were absolutely freezing, despite staying in August. The infinity pool in particular was underwhelming. The view is not what you might expect from an “infinity pool” — instead of an impressive panoramic view, you are essentially looking over a large patch of dirt, with the sea and town visible in the distance. We didn’t use the spa itself, although we both had massages. I personally really enjoyed mine, whereas my partner was not particularly impressed with his. This was one of the few areas where our experiences differed. However, the biggest disappointment of the entire stay was the way our half-board package was handled on our final day. We paid for half board for the duration of our stay from 19th–26th August. Our flight on the 26th was not until 11:30pm, and our transfer pick-up was not until approximately 7:40pm. Naturally, we asked about the possibility of a late checkout. At the very beginning of our stay, we specifically asked whether a late checkout would be possible. We were told that we needed to ask on the last day. We then asked again the day before our final day and were again told to ask on the last day. When the final day arrived and we asked, we were simply told that late checkout was not possible. This is extremely frustrating and, in my opinion, a completely flawed way of handling the situation. If the hotel already knew that a late checkout would not be available, we should have been told this when we first asked. Had we been given accurate information at the beginning of our stay, we could have made alternative arrangements for our final day. Instead, we were repeatedly told to wait until the last day, only to be told then that it wasn’t possible. But even more disappointing was the way our half-board package was handled. We paid for half board from 19th to 26th August. We missed dinner on our first night, which we accepted without complaint. However, at approximately 5:30pm on our final day, 26th August, we were told that we could not have dinner at the hotel. I find this completely unacceptable. We had paid for seven days of half board, yet we were only able to use six evenings of dinner. The fact that we missed dinner on the first night and then were refused dinner on our final evening means we effectively paid for a meal that we were never given the opportunity to use. What makes this even more frustrating is that we had specifically planned our final day around our late flight and transfer. We were still guests of the hotel, still within our paid stay, and had paid for half board covering the 19th–26th August. To be told at 5:30pm on our final day that we could not have dinner felt incredibly unreasonable and left a very sour impression of the hotel. Overall, I genuinely do not feel that this hotel represents good value for money. The facilities and room have potential, and the cleaning staff were wonderful, but these positives were outweighed by poor customer service, inadequate communication, disappointing facilities and, most importantly, the way our half-board package was handled. For a 4-star adults-only hotel, I expected a significantly higher standard of service and organisation. Based on our experience, I would not recommend TUI BLUE Atlantic Hills Hotel and would not stay here again. If you are considering booking, I would strongly encourage you to look at other options in Tenerife before committing to this hotel.

Wonderful 11 nights break with my wife at Atlantic Hills tui blue. Made super special by Jorge, manager plus Juan Pedro and Roberto mainly at pool bar/restaurant. The staff in general were magnificent and helped make our adult only break superb in every detail. Wonderful Canarian red wine was amazing and bar drinks generally excellent.

The hotel is beautiful. Extremely clean, modern and staff are friendly. The activities included in the stay are good fun and easy to book through an app. The food is great for a buffet type restaurant and has lots of choice. We get one night in the à la carte in our stay too which was lovely. Only negative is there isn’t much around the hotel to do and it is a step downhill walk to the town which doesn’t offer much in terms of entertainment either. The walk back up is over 300 stairs so is completely impossible for those with mobility issues. A shuttle bus to and from may be a good idea as I have experienced something similar in other resorts.
