Ekati Mare Boutique Resort

We had such a lovely stay at Ekati Mare and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Corfu. The hotel is absolutely beautiful aesthetically and you can tell how thoughtfully everything has been designed, from the rooms to the pool area and all the little details throughout the resort. It feels really special and is definitely worth the price. What stood out just as much as the hotel itself was how friendly and accommodating all of the staff were. We felt so welcomed from the moment we arrived and everyone we spoke to throughout our stay was genuinely lovely and helpful. We also loved spending time at La Mar Beach Lounge. It’s such a beautiful spot right by the sea and was one of our favourite parts of the stay. The whole experience felt relaxing, welcoming and really well thought out. We had an amazing time and would happily stay at Ekati Mare again. Thank you to the whole team for making our stay so lovely! 🤍

The hotel is beautiful, we stayed in a swim up room which was amazing, worth paying a bit more. The staff was great, I am disabled and use a wheel chair, they accommodated all my needs, nothing was too much trouble. The food is lovely, changing cuisine every night! We went at the end of the season so it was quiet and the bars were not very busy ! Had a lovely relaxing stay, they have a great private beach area with bar and day beds

Excellent hotel, upgraded at no extra charge. The hotel is not too big. It is extremely clean and all of the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and always willing to help. The hotel is very good value for money and we will return in the future.

From start to finish from Management to waiters/waitresses to cleaning staff. All were exceptional very attentive to all our needs. The food was not hot at times however the friendly atmosphere created by the catering staff one could gladly overlook this minor detail. It was my partners Birthday and on arrival because of this and there was availability our room was upgraded. Our room was spacious and very comfortable even if we only had 1 English speaking tv channel which actually encouraged us to move away from the mundane normality of watching boring TV and truly relax and rejuvenate. The Tui reps gave us excellent advice of the surrounding area which we were able to explore and witness an amazing Sunset. We decided to get a massage and was surprisingly given a complimentary massage treatment on my partners birthday. The massage was truly relaxing and healing so to be gifted a massage for my partners birthday made her birthday truly special. The cleaning staff cleaned our room daily and sprayed a charming air fresher so our room was continually fresh. We participated in the in house entrainment which was varied and not dull and very engaging . The traditional dancing was great. Ekati Mare was a fantastic experience and we would like to take this time to thank all the staff for all the effort that is put into making Ekati Mare unforgettable and an amazing experience. I have purposely left it a week since returning from Ekati Mare in Kavos, Corfu to write a balanced review. Before writing I have just read the first four current reviews and you would be forgiven to think that these people could not have been at the same hotel at the same time of year. However, combining all four reviews is exactly how I feel about what I have just experienced. The hotel is quite pleasing to the eye and has a modern feel to it. Our room was fine with a lovely six foot bed which was very comfortable. There were two negatives : no drawers to put things like underwear, socks etc. in so we just left them in our cases but the biggest problem was the design of the bathroom, that should be wet room. I was hot and sticky after having to wait three hours to access our room when we arrived, so I went straight into the shower but sadly I had left my clothes laying of the floor, which were directly between the shower cubicle and the drain hole located in the middle of the room. There after, if I wanted to shave or clean my teeth after showering then you are standing in a puddle of water. A small shower "towel" provided can soon become soggy and you end up laying bath towels down to get back to the main room. Restaurant and food : Breakfast I thought was quite good, dinner nowhere near as bad as some reviews suggest but does get a bit "samey" if you are staying two weeks as we did. For a island like Corfu there was an acute lack of fish served up which I personally was disappointed about. Wasps are a huge problem in Corfu and the restaurant has it's fair share. There is no obvious attempt by the hotel to try and ease the problem, in fact I got the impression that the locals are totally oblivious to the problem. I have already done a T A review about Kavos the resort where I totally forgot to mention the cats. If you hate cats DO NOT go to Kavos and DO NOT book Ekati Mare. Cats appear to have the run of the town and Ekati's restaurant, which personally I think is totally wrong. It doesn't help when some guests encourage them with food dropped on the floor where staff are trying to walk and work. One morning whilst eating breakfast one decided to try to get to my plate and proceeded to clamp its claws in my bare thigh drawing blood. After eventually pushing it away it then bit the hand of another guest who was stupidly trying to feed it. The hotel really does need to address this problem. Swimming pool is okay but not big enough. Pool bar is nice but we found if you want a light snack for lunch, with a drink, you will pay around 30 euro. This is replicated at the La Mar Beach Club. For us this is Ekati Mare's USP. Yes, you do have to walk 100 yards or so to get there and yes you do have to cross the main road but it is well worth it. It does also suggest in the notes in your room that it will cost 5 euro p/p to enter (paid by buying food or drinks). We were never approached to buy or pay but we did always have coffee anyway. One strange quirk if you drink beer. On the menu/bar prices it only shows beer 5 euro. This is a small glass which I think is expensive. However, I noticed people drinking large beers but I wasn't prepared to pay 10 euro. I didn't, as large beers are 6 euro???? One reviewer did mention about having to pay for drinks with dinner. We expected this however, we didn't expect to have to pay for water. Generally, I think the hotel would sell more food and drink if they priced everything more competitively. Last thing about the hotel is their staff. Lovely, charming, helpful, happy smiley faces. And this is at the end of a long hard season. It wouldn't be fair to mention names as they all deserve full praise for their efforts. Would we return to Ekati Mare? Sadly, probably not. Nothing to do with the hotel itself but the distance from most of the excursions and airport, oh and then there's Kavos of course. I wish I could have given the hotel a better rating and I trust the management will appreciate why I didn't. As mentioned, I have done a review about Kavos already but just to add to this, we got talking to the owner of a small ApartHotel in the south of Kavos and there are lots of noises being made about spending money on the town and generally making it more appealing to visit. Let's hope so as the people who work and live there deserve it.
