Courtyard Miami Coral Gables

We had a lovely short stay at the Courtyard Coral Gables. We booked last minute. Check in was smooth and quick. The lobby had a nice fresh smell. Our room was clean spacious and comfortable. Bathroom was on the small side but clean and functional. We had breakfast the next morning at the in-house Starbucks/Bistro. It was a typical menu but the food (avocado toast) was very good. Very fresh. I was between two minds about staying at this property because of the many negative reviews on this site but I am glad I didn’t let the negativity sway me. We had a good experience and I would recommend it. I would certainly return.

We arrived for our confirmed reservation and were told that our room had been given away. The manager said my friend's card had been declined but she could not tell us which card and said it was company policy to charge a reservation the morning of and if card declined to cancel reservation and give the room away with NO call, text or email notification. We were told we had to vacate by 11:00 p.m. at 9:14 we still had found no where to go. Suddenly 4 Police Officers with 4 squad cars and lights flashing arrive to arrest us. We all were wrote up for trespassing and would be arrested if we didn't leave immediately. The Police were nice and did not make us wait in the 37 degree cold outside. They escorted out when our Uber arrived 2 minutes later. We spent a terrible night in the Miami airport. What a start to our Celebrity Beyond Cruise.

this was the absolute most horrific hotel experience of my life !. First, we were told the credit card didn't go through, so they gave our room away. No rooms available city-wide due to high volume event in town. We tried and tried to locate another room, until the desk manager (who would NOT let us speak to a supervisor) called the cops on us for trespassing while we sat quietly in the lobby. We ended up spending the night at the airport, and when we got home, we see a credit card charge for the room!! Desk manager was extremely rude and unhelpful. She basically said oh well. I would NEVER EVER stay here, and probably never at another Marriott due to this experience.

Marriott Coral Gables Miami., how can you treat your customers this way? I still can’t believe this happened. On January 24, four women in our 60s and 70s arrived at the Courtyard Marriott Coral Gables for a confirmed reservation booked a month in advance through Marriott’s website. We were leaving for a cruise from the Port of Miami the next morning. Instead of checking us in, we were told our room had been CANCELLED that morning because our credit card was “expired.” No phone call. No email. No text. I’m a Marriott Bonvoy member. There were no rooms available throughout the city due to a marathon. After hours of trying to figure out what to do, the hotel manager called the police on us for “trespassing.” Yes — four, travel-weary, senior women with nowhere to go were escorted out by police and told us we can't stay. Need to go somewhere else for night. The only option was the Miami International Airport. And get this: When I got home, I discovered the hotel had successfully charged my credit card at 5:30AM that same day. No accountability. No empathy. No returned calls from management. I’ve been leaving voicemails for days. Travelers cruising out of Miami — be careful where you book. Please share. No one should start a vacation like this.

We stayed for 3 nights. For our purposes (visiting granddaughter at the University of Miami) it was a good location. No problem checking in and initially the room was what we expected.Front desk staff is excellent, particularly Claire. For some reason the "Free WiFi" for guest would not allow one of us to connect unless we upgraded to a paying service. Claire tried and got the same result. The first frustration is the WiFi, at best it is a spotty service and at its worst the connection completely fails. The last night of our stay the WiFi went out at 12:20 a.m. and remained that way even when we left at 9:00 a.m. The front desk clerk said everything look fine "Here!" The second morning tiny-tiny ants were parading across the threshold of the bathroom door. We informed the front desk when we left for the day and asked to have it sprayed. We spent the entire day out and returned at 8:00 p.m. only to find we still had the ants. A spray of cologne at the base of the door jam and along the threshold and voila, they stopped appearing. We called down for a resupply of coffee and towels. Got both, absent wash clothes. The staff was always pleasant and accommodating, willing to help with any issue. Perhaps they are fighting a losing battle with their leadership team.
