Holiday Inn Miami West-Airport Area

This property shouldn’t be called a Holiday Inn. I’m going to try to summarize my thoughts. Don’t stay here if you want to sleep. I’m on the 10th floor, in a room with a “balcony.” It is literally 2 ft wide, no chairs, nothing. The glass door does not actually shut all the way, allowing for extreme road noise. If you want to lock it, the gap becomes wider. It was unlocked when I checked in-so families, definitely double check this. I did not sleep well at all due to the extreme noise and I have my AC down to 60, and I’m still warm. The main issue is with the front desk. I needed a late check out due to work. I put it in my notes when I booked, called 2 days before check in. During check in, the front desk clerk told me to call the night manager at 11:15pm. I stayed up. He was rude, telling me to call in the morning, saying no late check out. I asked what would change in the morning if I called then, he responded nothing. I asked if there was a conference room or a private office that I could use to complete my virtual work meeting as I just needed a private space to complete it. He told me there was a conference room, but I would need to rent it to be able to utilize it… which makes no sense because I would really only be using the space as a quiet place for approximately one hour, utilizing no amenities, except for the electricity. The morning staff at the front desk also seem disinterested in their jobs. I needed to break a $20 for cash, so I asked if I could get cash. The front desk said that they didn’t handle any cash and redirected me to the restaurant. The restaurant redirected me to the front desk, to which then I respond that the front desk sent me here for you. The restaurant staff walked with me to the front desk, and told the front desk that they did not do anything with cash. The front desk then redirected me again to a gas station. Looking back, how does the front desk not realize that the restaurant does not handle any cash, and how does the restaurant not handle any cash? The only thing I liked about this day is the bed. The bed was very comfortable, but with the road noise, I couldn’t even enjoy sleeping in the comfortable bed.

This is called an Airport hotel however, it’s not near the airport. Got in about midnight for a one night stay before a cruise. Check-in was fine but took a while to get to the hotel from the airport. The room was dingy and dated. Needs renovation for sure. Would have left and found another hotel if it was not so late. We stayed on the 10th floor but sounded like a construction site with heavy traffic. This could be the noisiest hotel I’ve ever stayed. Did not sleep at all. Stay away.

Holiday Inn Miami West Airport is Hialeah, about a 20-minute drive from the airport MIA. There is plenty of complimentary parking on the hotel grounds including a multistory car park and they operate a complimentary shuttle service from the airport. The location gives easy access to both downtown Miami and Fort Lauderdale as both are about a 30-minute drive away. There is also plenty of restaurants and shopping within a few minutes drive from the hotel. There is a nice and open lobby area, from which you also access the outdoor pool area with a decent size pool and plenty of seating. On the lobby level is also a good size gym as well as the restaurant and bar. The rooms are a good size that work both for business and leisure, however they could do with a refreshing as they are a little dated, having said it perfectly fine! A good hotel at a good location.

Our stay at the Holiday Inn Miami West – Airport was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The check-in process was absolutely awful long waits, disorganization, and staff who seemed completely uninterested in helping. Unfortunately, that lack of service continued throughout our stay. Our room keys stopped working multiple times, and each time we had to go back down to the front desk with little urgency or accommodation from the staff. The room itself was in awful condition. Several outlets were literally falling off the walls, which felt unsafe. The room smelled strongly of musty smoke, with what seemed like heavy fragrance products attempting (and failing) to mask it. It was not a clean or comfortable environment. The airport shuttle was another major issue it took hours to arrive, which is unacceptable when you're relying on airport transportation. Breakfast was subpar at best! Very limited options and not well maintained. The overall property felt neglected, with trash scattered around the grounds and even broken glass in the pool area. That alone was incredibly concerning. Additionally, the condition of the women’s restroom near the restaurant at Holiday Inn Miami West – Airport was unacceptable. Every single toilet was filled with urine and feces and would not flush. It was completely unusable and clearly had not been checked or maintained. When I notified a staff member, instead of closing the restroom to address what was obviously a serious sanitation issue, he simply directed me to a different bathroom. There was no urgency, apology, or effort to resolve the problem in any leverage just another example of the overall lack of care and management at this property. The pool is not heated, so during the winter it’s essentially unusable. If a pool is one of the reasons you’re booking, keep that in mind. Yes, the hotel may be affordable, but you absolutely get what you pay for. Between the lack of cleanliness, safety concerns, poor service, and overall condition of the property, we would not stay here again and would not recommend it.

There are a lot of negative reviews about his place and I could understand why there may be as the building is older, however, I had a great experience. I travel over 150 nights per year and stayed here for 8 nights. My room was clean, the hallway and room had no unpleasant odors, the bulk toiletries were all full, I had ample linens, and my air conditioner kept the room nice and cold with no issues whatsoever. The people at the front desk were friendly and authentic. If you’re expecting the newest and nicest hotel, this isn’t it but if you are looking for a quiet stay for a reasonable price in a good location you should definitely give this a shot.
