
We recently stayed at the Hilton Skanes in Tunisia and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing, particularly given the expectations that come with the Hilton brand. The gym was extremely hot and felt more like a furnace than a place to exercise, making it very uncomfortable to use. The showers in the rooms were also very inconsistent, constantly switching between freezing cold and scalding hot, which made them unpleasant to use. The room air conditioning did not work properly either. It appeared to be locked on a winter setting, so whenever you tried to reduce the temperature it actually produced heat instead of cooling the room. As a result, we had little choice but to keep the balcony door open most of the time with the air conditioning turned off completely, which left the room feeling quite musty and uncomfortable. The drinks were poor quality and there was only one bar open during the day. Both the pool bar and the tavern were closed, meaning there were often long queues for the single bar that was operating. It also meant repeated walks back and forth from the pool area to the indoor bar just to get a drink. Communication about the hotel’s facilities was also lacking. For example, we were never told about the snack bar and only discovered it by chance on our last day after another guest mentioned it. The food was another major disappointment. Dining felt more like visiting a staff canteen three times a day. The options were repetitive and very similar every day. The one highlight was the omelette station — the chef making the omelettes was excellent — and somewhat tellingly, the boiled eggs ended up being the highlight of breakfast. The bar staff often came across as rude, which didn’t help the overall experience. On the positive side, the entertainment staff were friendly and enthusiastic, which was one of the few bright spots during our stay. The area outside the hotel was also disappointing. The surroundings are very undeveloped, with many derelict or unfinished buildings, and overall it felt quite dirty and poorly maintained. We also visited Sousse, which unfortunately wasn’t much better. Shop owners were extremely persistent, with constant harassment to buy something, and at times it felt quite uncomfortable. The area felt dirty and run down, and we didn’t come across a single pleasant restaurant or bar. It’s not somewhere we would choose to visit again. Overall, for a Hilton hotel this was highly disappointing and far below the standards we expected.

Rezervovat dovolenou pár týdnů před otevřením hotelu je sice risk, ale má své nesporné výhody. Nejdůležitější z nich je samozřejmě cena, umocněná aktuálním kurzem tuniského dináru k euro. Druhou je maximální ochota personálu, kterému sice chybí ještě zkušenost, ale je stonásobně nahrazena osobním přístupem. Oceníte snahu od počátku dosahovat standardů Hilton a tím tento resort odlišit. A teď k hodnocení hotelu. Velkou předností je lokalita. Vzdálenost letiště je cca 10 minut taxi, dostupnost zdravotní péče ( klinika je 300 metrů od hotelu). Kilometry dlouhou písčitou pláž s pozvolným vstupem do moře ocení především rodiny s dětmi a senioři. Venkovní bazény jsou velikostí i koncepcí úžasné - viz foto. V hotelu je několik a la carte restaurací. Nyní jsou otevřeny, vzhledem k menšímu počtu hostí na začátku sezóny jen dvě - italská a s mořskými plody. Výběr jídel byl natolik pestrý, spolu s hlavní hotelovou buffetovou restaurací byl naprosto při týdenním pobytu dostačující. Pokoje jsou prostorné, vybavené v evropském stylu zn. Hilton. Oceníte sprchový kout a každý má vlastní balkón se skládacím sušákem na mokré plavky a většina z nich i výhled na moře. Shrnuto - tento hotel má šanci se stát v brzké době nejlepším hotelem v Tunisku. Rádi se sem budeme v budoucnu vracet.
