Shalimar

So we just checked in from UK Had to wait for the room for about an hour, that wasn’t too bad got some drinks at the bar by the pool , then after checking in was told it’s £70 for taxes cash for this 4 star hotel, Well of this is 4 star I’m a monkeys uncle, Let me explain, I ask at reception there is a safe? Lady said yes, get to the room no safe, no working telephone, no working air con, no fridge OMG how is this 4 star? I feel I’ve been ripped off, every room we have ever been in has a fridge, no kettle, I brought coffee sachets with me this time, and I can’t use them, rooms are clean but it may as well be a cave, how they have had this rated 4**** is a joke, it’s our first day and I really dint want to stay here for 2 weeks, I need to get I. Touch with the booking agent as we are not fussy people, but do not come here if you need a fridge or safe, we have to carry our valuables everywhere now, the safe is in a room by reception, it’s like a safety deposit box, they give you a key, BUT you have to have 2 keys to open it, the first box they gave us wouldn’t open, they gave us a second box, you put your key in, a member of staff puts theirs in you turn them both to open and lock it, nightmare, second box didn’t work either, grounds by the pool are ok, not ventured any further yet, wi-if seems good in the room and by the pool, please please DONT come here if you want the basics you won’t get them! 5th September, hope I really do t have to stay here 2 weeks, funny no mention of these problems on any other reviews! I’m puzzled!

This place is worrying. There was a sewer drainage issue and the whole hotel smells like poo. There was also an alarming number of flies in the room. The staff are ridiculous and money hungry, please leave the hotel to organise excursions or buy anything. The men working there are predatory and weird. I was also asked 3 times on the first day if I was a solo travel by the male staff, which if you know the history of Tunisia is not a good sign. Also the pictures are doctored, the hotel doesn’t look at all like that.

Me and my partner stayed at Hotel Shalimar in September 2025 and had a fantastic stay. Hotel entertainment staff were fantastic and although 99% of the hotel spoke French the staff translated English (as well as other languages!) through out and were great vibes and made the stay very enjoyable. You get what you pay for with this Hotel in terms of decor and bedrooms etc. Majority of Bar staff were great but one was extremely pushy for tips and rude when refused. Wi-Fi is awful throughout hotel so a new SIM or plan is most definitely necessary if this is important to you. Good option for food but soon gets boring, drinks are watered down but a tip soon rectifies this! Special shout-out to Rocky, Hannibal and Zico, give them boys a raise they deserve it!

The hotel was so good thw food was so delicious the animation team were so friendly and welcoming i would likw to spend all my summers here!🤩❤️

I had an amazing experience at Shalimar Hotel! The staff were incredibly welcoming and made sure everything was perfect throughout my stay. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and had a lovely relaxing atmosphere – a true home away from home. What really stood out was the dining experience. Chef Mohamed Moncer deserves a huge thank you! He went above and beyond to make sure every meal was perfect, happily accommodating special requests and ensuring everyone was satisfied. The food was fresh, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. The entire hotel maintains exceptional hygiene standards, which made me feel safe and comfortable at all times. I highly recommend Shalimar Hotel to anyone looking for great service, delicious food, and a memorable stay.
